FUNDING FOR PLAR SERVICES
Beginning February 1, 2004 funding is provided for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition services to mature students who are enrolled in the board to take credit courses toward the OSSD. The following services are funded:
$100.00 for an individual student assessment for Grade 9 and 10 credits and/or the determination of the equivalent credit value of a transcript. Funding is $100.00 per mature student per fiscal year for one or both of the processes listed above.
$100.00 per mature student per fiscal year for the determination of equivalent Grade 11 and 12 credits.
$300.00 for each completed challenge assessment for a Grade 11 or 12 full credit course, whether successful or unsuccessful.
Note:
School boards are funded based on their reporting of these activities.
The Board's October Report Form will be adjusted to reflect this change in funding and will be developed during the summer of 2004.
Boards are encouraged to begin developing strategies to record all contacts with mature students for PLAR purposes. It is recommended that adult and continuing education administrators meet with the appropriate supervisory official and the board's business officials in the late spring of 2004 to prepare for this reporting process and to ensure that they receive all funds to which they are entitled.
